For the past few months, I’ve slowly become less interested in
blushes
that look overly too bright or overly heavy. Don’t get me wrong—I still love a
sculpted blush
moment every once in a while, but lately, I’ve been reaching for blush tints almost exclusively. A big part of that comes from the
watercolor makeup trend
that’s been taking over my TikTok feed and, honestly, my own routine. Instead of harsh contour, super-intense pigment, or anything that looks too perfectly placed, the entire vibe is softer and more diffused. “Nothing looks too sharp or sculpted,” makeup artist
Corey White
previously told
MC
. “The blush, lips, and eyes have this diffused, flushed effect that feels dreamier, effortless."
That aesthetic is basically what blush tints were made for. Unlike
powders
or thicker cream formulas that can sometimes sit on top of the skin, blush tints melt in quickly and leave behind a sheer wash of color that looks more like a natural flush than makeup. They’re lightweight, easy to blend, and nearly impossible to overdo—which is probably why I keep throwing them into my bag lately instead of my usual
powder compacts
.
“A blush stain is exactly what it sounds like—it stains the skin with a wash of color rather than sitting on top of it," says celebrity makeup artist
Ash K Holm
. "The finish is sheer and natural. It’s one of my favorite categories right now because the result looks effortless in a way that’s hard to fake with other formulas." In other words, if your goal is a blush that looks soft and fresh, like a natural glow, this is the makeup category to know.

Best Blush Tint Overall
Benefit Cosmetics
Benetint Liquid Lip + Cheek Blush Stain
Benetint is basically the blueprint for blush stains. The iconic formula originally started as a custom tint made for exotic dancers to enhance their nipples on stage, which somehow only adds to its legacy status. The watery texture melts into skin almost instantly and leaves behind the prettiest natural flush. It’s also smudge-, transfer-, and
kiss-proof
, so once it sets, it truly stays put.

What I Love:
Original blush stain; Universally flattering; Versatility is awesome
What I Don't:
Easily spills
Review for MC:
"I've used this stain for as long as I can remember, and I haven't gone very long without using it in my life. It will forever remain the blush and lip tint to beat. It's lasted this long for a reason." — Siena Gagliano, Beauty Editor
Best Long-Lasting Blush Tint
Milk Makeup
Cooling Water Jelly Tint Lip + Cheek Blush Stain
This is my personal favorite because the texture is just so different from anything else out there. The
jelly formula
literally bounces against the skin, giving the cheeks a juicy, fresh-looking color that lasts all day. Most blush tints wear well, but this one especially does not budge. It also contains
soothing aloe
and seawater, which gives it a cooling effect that feels amazing during summer.
Shades:

What I Love:
Includes 7 shades with one pH-reactive option for a unique color on each wearer; Lasts the longest of any formula; Mess-free application
What I Don't:
Sometimes when I apply it on top of foundation, it picks up formula if I'm not careful
Review for MC:
"The color Splash—a berry plum—has been solidified as my summer 2026 go-to. This jelly formulation is so cool to apply and stays on through long days at the beach and sweaty days on the subway. I'm obsessed." — Siena Gagliano, Beauty Editor
Best Luxury Blush Tint
Victoria Beckham
Color Wash Liquid Blush
The
Victoria Beckham Colour Wash
basically became the poster child for watercolor makeup. Every restock goes viral almost immediately, largely because the formula creates that sheer, diffused flush everyone’s trying to replicate right now. The texture is incredibly lightweight and watery, so the pigment blends into the skin. Somehow, it manages to make cheeks look glowy without looking shiny.
Shades:
3 blush; 2 bronzer
What I Love:
Incredibly
